Mariah::"Dont compare me to people who are not really singers"
This is what Mariah Carey had to say about the comparisons between herself and Leona Lewis
"Honestly, there has been so many, 'This is the new her,' and I'm like, 'OK, show me the new her. Can she come and work for me and be my double?'And I'm not particular talking about this girl Leona, because I only heard her once and I didn't really hear a true similarity, particularly in the style of music.
It is what it is and critics have compared me to so many people who are not really singers, and they're certainly not writers.

I can't get into Leona Lewis' music. She has a nice voice & if nothing else, she's gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI think Mariah has a right to be salty. I think it is rather insulting to compare a relatively unknown artist to a diva such as Mariah. If anything they could draw humbling comparisons, but that should clearly be the extent of it.

LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeletei think MC is true, am not hating but you cant go on comparing her with Leona.
ReplyDeleteSpoken like a TRUE Diva. lol i like them both but MC is my girl.
ReplyDeleteGotta love Mimi.
ReplyDeleteI just dont like how they are trying to pattern Leona after Mariah. Each artist should be their own person...
ReplyDeleteproduct junkie diva
i agree with product junkie and marcus.
ReplyDeletei'm not into leona's music , but she is a very talented woman. it's unfair that she should have to spend her whole career being compared or being groomed to be the next so and so instead of just being leona .
Oh whatever! There will always be comparisons. "The New Whitney", "The New Janet", "The New Beyonce".
ReplyDeleteIf I were on legendary status, I think I wouldn't ever give it more than a second thought. If I were secure in my place and in my talent, I would not let comparisons shake me. Mariah is shook, does she see any real threat in the comparisons?
Or in the fact that like it or not, Leona is a "next big thing" type of artist?
Clive Davis is behind this. He and Mariah are feuding so he's getting a jab in by trying to steal MiMi's thunder. Mariah doesn't want to be asked questions about Leona because that gives Leona and Clive publicity. Leona is a dime a dozen, Mariah is a once in a lifetime.
ReplyDelete*eye roll*...mariah shouldn't talk soo hard...i heard bits of her new song-couldn't listen to the whole thing it was sooo awful-and i am soooo not impressed...she sang much better when she first started...in fact, it seems like after the divorce, she just turned real ghetto-fab and her music has suffered...with the way she is singing, she should be happy to even have a career and that anyone is even thinking enough of her to make comparisons...boo mc, boo...
