Events: 2010 Keep A Child Alive: The 2010 Black Ball

Singer Alicia Keys held her annual Black Ball event for her Keep A Child Alive foundation in New York City on yesterday (Thurs. Sept. 30th). The purpose of the event is to, "bring celebrity and pihlantrophy together to fulfill hopes, dreams and raise funds for children and families with HIV/AIDS in Africa and India." Attendees of this years gathering included, of course, Alicia & Husband Swizz Beatz as well as Usher, Whitney Houston not photographed (on carpet) Beyoncé and Jay-Z as well as a host of others. Whitney Houston performed a new revamped version of her ne single, "Million Dollar Bill", although she had a little wardrobe malfunction. Whitney Carried the performance very well. I actually thought this was her best "Live" vocal throughout this era. But apparently im wrong, she really got slated for this performance, I still don't know why. I thought she sounded fantastic and looked even better.

Cheryl Cole also took to the stage to give her very first live performance of her debut solo single "Fight For This Love". She did an AMAZING job, the outfit was a little bit of a mess but she sounded great and the dancing was on point. Well done Cheryl. The single comes out this week in the UK, go grab your copy.

Whitney Houston to Embark on World Tour, First Stop UK

It was recently confirmed that Whitney Houston is set to embark on a major tour of Britain—her first in more than a decade—next April.

"This is my first full tour since 1999. I cannot wait to perform songs from my new album along with favourites," contactmusic.com quoted Houston as saying.

Her tour will start at Manchester April 8 and move to Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle and London.

She looked stunning, had a great energy on stage but the vocals were very mediocre, didnt quite match up to her "I Look To You" performance earlier in the week.

Whitney sounded really good, probably the best she's sounded since this era. My only bad point was her appearance, something about her look was off.

Wow, she sounded "good" for what its worth but "terrible" if I'm judging her by her own standards. As much as I would hate to admit it, this seems like the closest we would ever get to hearing "The Voice" again. I guess the Years and years of "weed, laced in cocaine" really affected her voice, its a sad realization.

New Music: Preview Whitney's Entire Album

Whitney's new album I Look To You leaked yesternight so today her team decide to post the entire album on her site. Overall I give it 4.3/5 stars. Some of the tracks are lackluster but overall it's Whitney, and I'm excited to hear the new material. I came into it with an unbias mind, the vocals aren't where they used to be, but the lyrical content on some of the tracks hit home. Uh Oh..Mariah Threatened By Whitney's Comeback

So 2 of the biggest divas, Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston are to head to head with the release of their albums just weeks apart. Reports are claiming Mariah Carey is feeling abit threatened by Whitneys comeback.

Page Six is reports:

MARIAH Carey is said to be scrambling to complete her new album, “Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel.” “She’s getting very nervous now that Whitney Houston is coming back,” said our source. We’re told Carey signed with manager Chris Lighty four months ago, but the album still isn’t finished. Lighty told Page Six by e-mail, “My management company is dealing with [Mariah's] music, brand extensions and commercial opportunities. We love Mariah.” Carey hasn’t had a music manager since splitting with Benny Medina last September and has only released one single — “Obsessed” — off the album so far. We tried to get more details from Lighty, but he told us he was “at the beach” and couldn’t talk. When we called her p.r. firm, a rep said, “We are no longer working with Mariah.”

I must say, as an avid Whitney supporter, Im highly dissapointed! Whitney sounds the best she has ever done thus far, but the song is very lackluster and the beat is not cutting it at all!

All her songs so far ("I look to you", "I didnt know my own strength"...) have all been "clasically themed", all the ballads, no mordern influences at all. From the producer and writer (Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz), I would have expected a more R&B Edge to it.
